discount
If you enroll and pay for two or more courses, you will receive a 5% discount on each course. The same applies to siblings and/or parents belonging to the same household.
Placement
The school reserves the right to place students in the correct course level according to age and prior knowledge. For current students, this placement is based on a discussion between the teacher responsible for the course and the course administration; for new students, this placement is based on the prior knowledge stated at registration. New students who are nevertheless considered to have ended up in the wrong group can be reassigned to the appropriate level, this is done on the recommendation of the course teacher and at the latest by the third course session.
After the third session, the groups will be closed, after which no reassignments or new admissions will be made. We do this to create security and continuity in the groups, and not to disrupt the work of the groups and the delicate processes that are going through during the semester.
Teacher changes, substitutes, guest teachers and canceled classes
The school’s teachers are active performing artists. On some occasions, lessons or parts of a course may be taught by a teacher other than the one responsible for the course.
Substitute or guest teachers may be present during the course. The school only takes on substitutes/guest teachers who have the right skills for the level of the group. If a regular teacher is unable to attend and a substitute is not available, the course will be canceled and students will be offered an extra lesson.
The school reserves the right to change teachers before and during the course, if the current teacher is unable to attend. If a teacher needs to be changed during the semester, information about this will be sent to the group. The school will only change to a teacher who has the correct competence in relation to the student group.
The school has a good routine, our curricula and substitute pool together guarantee that there will be no hiccups in the course structure for you as a student – on the contrary, it is an opportunity to get a broader course with more angles and larger networks!
If the school has to cancel a lesson, a replacement lesson will be given. The school does not replace canceled lessons with a refund of the course fee.
Missed lessons
If you miss a lesson for any reason, it cannot be made up in another group.
If you miss a lesson for any reason, it is not refundable.
Rules of procedure
Actors Studio Stockholm is a small school with large activities and there are many different interests to be accommodated in our premises. Respect is a keyword and we ask you as a student to respect the order in our spaces and to respect the other individuals who participate in activities at the school.
Responsibility for younger pupils cannot be left to school staff; you, as a parent or other adult carer, are responsible for the child until the lesson starts and after the lesson is over. The halls are intended for lessons with teachers – the hall may not be used by pupils without the teacher’s permission.
No food or drink, other than water, is allowed in the halls. In addition, glasses and crockery may not be brought into the halls. In consideration of bare feet, we ask that you handle glasses and crockery with great care in all our spaces.
OUR PHILOSOPHY – We prioritize students’ development in their craft and personal growth within it. Our approach is focused on training, with the goal of developing each student’s ability to communicate, collaborate and focus through the craft of theater, using a variety of techniques and methods. We see each student as a unique individual with inherent capacities. For us, theater learning means communication learning, with the group as a platform. It’s about learning to take and give space, collaborate and feel the power of a group working towards a common goal. As we understand that it takes time to learn the craft without immediately aspiring to perform – there will be no public performances.
Open lesson or presentation
Generally, each course ends with either an open lesson or a presentation. Open lesson means that you, as a family member, have the opportunity to watch part of a lesson to see how the group and your child work. Presentation means that the group presents a longer cohesive work that has been part of the lessons. Which it will be is a judgment made by the teacher in charge of the course based on the group’s work and/or together with the group. It may also be that the teacher, or the teacher together with the group, decides not to hold either an open lesson or a presentation. This is often done taking into account the processes that the group is going through and is NOT a sign that the course objectives have not been achieved or that the course group has somehow failed. Instead, we emphasize that this is done with great care for the group itself and with great respect for the delicate processes that can easily be lost if they are forced on display. Therefore, we are clear that we are process and not production oriented in our teaching!
Those students who are more interested in production are referred to the courses that are clearly marked as such, including our specialized law courses.
