WHO WE ARE
Established in 2013 in Stockholm, Actors Studio Stockholm accepts both national and international students and teachers. Our students work in English and Swedish, which gives them an international advantage in their professional development. We offer a unique education with a mix of techniques that cannot be found anywhere else in Sweden.
After instructing hundreds of actors, we have combined different methods and designed an efficient process that gives students specific tools to develop their unique approach to the work. Our school is a place where students can work together with others and teachers to achieve success – your success is our success!
We Believe
Film and Theater Go Hand in Hand
We strive to provide an education that will support you both on the theater stage and on film sets. Our goal is to achieve a deepened art of performance through physical, emotional, and mental training. This enables you to act freely, without mental blocks, responding to your impulses and bringing your thoughts, body, and imagination to life, rather than merely speaking or thinking about them.
Safety and Community are Essential for Creative Development
In an environment where vulnerability and self-exploration are central, safety is crucial for students to take risks and challenge themselves. A supportive and inclusive atmosphere, free from judgment, fosters a sense of community. This community inspires collaboration, creativity, and personal growth, allowing each actor to grow both as an individual and as an artist.
“Dare to Be Private in Public is Essential”
At our acting school, we believe in challenging each individual to help them reach their goals and surpass their own expectations. Our dedicated teachers encourage students to take risks, dive into new experiences, and dare to be themselves without being polite. We encourage them to be private in public settings and explore their vulnerability.
Our Focus
We focus on regular repetition to transform imaginary circumstances into reality. Our training places great emphasis on creatively exploring and developing scenes, with exercises tailored to each individual’s personal growth.
Voice: How do you use your voice in the best possible way? How do you make yourself heard? How can you best utilize pauses, emphasis, and different dialects?
Movement: The body is our instrument on stage. In the subject of movement, you will have the opportunity to develop your body language and master new physical expressions.
Text Analysis: The theoretical aspect provides the necessary understanding of the text. You will learn to interpret text and understand the key questions we, as actors, must always ask: WHO, WHAT, HOW, WHY, and WHEN. What are the character’s needs, and through the text, what do we recognize as the dramatic action?
It’s not about “the” way, it’s about finding your way to the truth.
JD Glickman
We give you the opportunity to explore various methods to find one that resonates with you. You’ll work with different elements from Chekhov, Meisner, Viewpoint, Clown, Mask, Uta Hagen, and more.
